As the Managing Director of LPA’s structural and seismic engineering group, Bryan Seamer leads a team of structural engineers and designers with expertise in new construction, seismic assessment and rehabilitation. Seamer joined LPA in 2013 and has focused on the practice and processes of integrating structural, architectural and MEP building systems into elegant, holistic design solutions. His progressive designs for education, healthcare, governmental and commercial structures have been recognized by his peers, including garnering multiple “Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards” from the Structural Engineering Association of Southern California.
Seamer has more than 17 years of experience in the design of new construction, high-performance seismic design and rehabilitation of new and existing buildings. His extensive experience in seismic design includes both preventative seismic rehabilitation projects throughout the United States and recovery and rebuilding projects following the recent devastating earthquakes in Haiti and New Zealand.
Seamer holds engineering degrees from the University of Southern California and California State University, Long Beach, and is a licensed structural engineer in California, Texas, Washington and Minnesota. Seamer actively contributes to the advancement of structural engineering education and development, serving on the Advisory Board for the Architectural Engineering department at California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and on the Technical Advisory Committee of the US Resiliency Council. He is a regular speaker at conferences and events on topics related to seismic design, retrofit and resiliency.
