The Rundown: A design coordinator sees the importance of balancing both the design and technical language of LPA’s solutions to create integrated successful projects for their clients.
Key Goals and Objectives of this role: Partner with the project designer to thoughtfully evolve the ideation concept into written and verbal construction drawing packages that communicate the solution to the contractor and client.
Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments.
Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important impact on major projects. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches.
Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to expertise.
Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of a staff of engineers and technicians.
As individual staff specialist, conceives plans and conducts research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity.
Coordinate design/ engineering with integrated design team. Organizes and monitors design team. Schedules work of staff.
Expert in system design calculations to accurately size and select system components and equipment.
Responsible for quality assurance for project and for discipline coordination.
Attend project meetings, take detailed records and provide written documentation.
Mentor and train less experienced engineers and designers.
Thorough understanding of scope of work, interpreting and transferring into construction documents.
Stamps and signs construction documents prepared by company.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited 4-year program required
8-12 years of experience required
Professional Engineering License in California and current NCEES certification required
