RCCD Center for Social Justice and Civil Liberties

Originally constructed in 1926 as a single-story bank building, Riverside Community College District's building has been renovated and restored to reveal its original ornate Spanish Baroque façade. The result is a two-level exhibition gallery and research facility honoring Riverside-born artist Mine Okubo, who died in 2001. Okubo was interned during World War II in a Japanese-American camp and left her collection of letters, paintings and drawings to be permanently housed in this restored building, appropriately named the Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties.
