Have you ever seen a beautiful rendering, that looked nothing like the finished product?
When architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects from LPA created an entry for Project Playhouse, an annual fundraiser for nonprofit HomeAid Orange County, it was not only an opportunity to showcase contemporary and sustainable design, but a chance to show our community that what we promised, was what we'd deliver.
Watch as our playhouse goes from virtual reality to the finished, built project.
Sustainable features include use of locally manufactured and rescued materials in addition to those made with recycled contents; use of drought-tolerant, California native vegetation; a truth wall which exposes the contents of the playhouse (i.e. 100% natural wool insulation, piping, and a structure made of composite wood); energy efficient luminaires and LED lighting; panels and a sliding door comprised of Trex Accents, which give the appearance of wood without the inconvenience of splinters; and a source of renewable energy, Suntech Black Label photovoltaic solar modules on the roof.
