Higher Education ProjectsThe Lewis Center for the Applied Science is the first step in creating a new state of the art science complex at Orange Coast College.
The Center project comprises of a complete renovation and re-planning of 30,000-square-feet of interior space while preserving only the exterior brick shell and concrete core of the existing structure. This facility houses Marine Sciences, Geology, Physics, and Astronomy classrooms, laboratories, faculty and divisional offices.
The design includes a central atrium space around the main staircase that is clad in glass and draws light from a large skylight above, connecting both first and second floors and creating a hub or gathering area for students.
